Former Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has suggested that Manchester United centre-back Leny Yoro possesses the qualities to thrive at the Emirates Stadium if a hypothetical move to north London were to materialise in the future.
Yoro completed his switch to Old Trafford from French club Lille during the 2024 summer transfer period, with media reports indicating an outlay of approximately £52million for the young defender.
The 19-year-old had attracted interest from several elite European clubs prior to committing his future to Manchester United, including reported interest from Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Arsenal.
Since arriving at the club two years ago, the French youth international has accumulated 69 senior appearances across all competitions.
Having now gained two seasons of Premier League experience, Yoro has been identified by Sagna as a player who could excel within Arsenal’s current project.
Speaking to Action Network, the former Gunners right-back described the United defender as a promising talent with exceptional ability.
Sagna expressed the view that Yoro’s potential success at Arsenal would be closely tied to the team’s overall performance, suggesting that the north London club’s recent trajectory would provide an environment conducive to the defender showcasing his abilities.
The ex-Arsenal player characterised Manchester United’s situation at the time of Yoro’s arrival as challenging, describing the club as struggling during that period.
Sagna cited the example of Bruno Fernandes as evidence that elite players can still make significant impacts despite difficult team circumstances.
